        Where this comes from

        • Circuit geometry — bacinger/f1-circuits, resampled to an even 15 m along the lap.
        • Elevation — OpenTopoData, sampling EU-DEM (25 m), USGS NED (10 m) or the Mapzen global terrain blend, depending on where the circuit is.
        • Race results, calendar and session times — Jolpica-F1, the community successor to the Ergast API.
        • Basemap — CARTO, over OpenStreetMap data.

        On the elevation. It is sampled from a terrain model, not surveyed from the track, so bridges, tunnels and cuttings read as the ground around them rather than the tarmac itself, and a model older than a circuit's last rebuild will miss new banking. The vertical scale in the opening scene is exaggerated by the factor shown on screen so that flat circuits are still legible. The flattened profile lower down is at true scale.

        On the turn numbers and DRS markers. These are placeholders, derived from the shape of the track rather than from official race documents — corners are found by curvature and numbered from the start/finish line, and the DRS and speed trap markers are placed on the longest straight. Expect them to disagree with the official circuit map where a sequence is numbered as a single corner. The start/finish line itself is real. Every marker is positioned by its distance from the start/finish line, so official figures can replace these directly.
